What is SERDAL

In Kuwait’s rich maritime history, pearl diving was once the cornerstone of life and livelihood. During the diving season, fleets of dhows would sail together in search of oyster-rich reefs. Each vessel was commanded by a Nokhitha—a seasoned captain responsible for managing the crew and making daily decisions at sea.

Among these leaders, one stood above the rest. The most experienced, wise, and respected Nokhitha would be chosen as the guide for the entire fleet. With deep knowledge of the sea, weather patterns, seasonal shifts, and navigation, this individual was entrusted with the safety and direction of all. His role was critical—he made the most significant decisions and ensured the well-being of every sailor in the group.

This revered figure was known as the SERDAL.

Today, SERDAL is the name of our marine store—a tribute to that legacy of leadership, wisdom, and protection at sea. Just like the Serdal of the past, we aim to guide and support every marine journey with quality, expertise, and trust.
